MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – The Central Board of Muhammadiyah has launched the “Rumah Sakinah program as a social welfare institution for the empowerment of women in Kemayoran.”
“Rumah Sakinah is the first social welfare institution for women’s empowerment established by the Muhammadiyah Council for Social Welfare,” said M. Arif, Chairperson of the Rumah Sakinah.
Arif, who is also a technical team member of the Minister of Social Affairs, said that Rumah Sakinah is a collaboration between the Muhammadiyah Council for Social Welfare and the Aisyiyah Regency Board (PDA) of Central Jakarta with training locations in Taman Sari and Kemayoran, the new one.
Deputy Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Council for Social Welfare as we as Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), Jasra Putra, said that the Rumah Sakinah plays a role in forming good families, considering the important role of women in a family.
Therefore, the Rumah Sakinah program focuses on a number of issues, such as reducing the number of cases of domestic violence and victims of human trafficking, resolving violence against children, and ensuring fifteen child protection aspects.
The launch of Rumah Sakinah was marked by the distribution of food packages to 45 women who are prospective program trainees and free medical check-up for 100 elderly residents at the Aisyiyah Office, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (May 11).
The establishment of Rumah Sakinah is a part of Muhammadiyah concern for marginalized people who generally experience violence physically, sexually, and psychologically and domestic violence including threats of acts, coercion, and deprivation of liberty.
