MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The Central Board of Muhammadiyah conducted a post-Ramadan gathering which brought together leadership, board members, institutions, and Muhammadiyah autonomous organizations.
President of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir called on the Muhammadiyah members to use the month of Shawwal as a time to refresh their spirit and commitment to the movement’s mission.
“On behalf of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, we ask for your forgiveness. May Allah accept our fasting and all our acts of worship during Ramadan and Eid,” said Haedar on Saturday, April 12.
He emphasized that Shawwal should bring new energy to Muhammadiyah’s religious and social work. While the gathering is a post-Ramadan tradition, Haedar reminded that it holds deeper spiritual meaning.
“Gatherings like this are more than ceremonies. They should inspire us to reflect on the meaning of worship and help us renew our energy to serve,” he explained.
Haedar also highlighted silaturahmi (strengthening relationships) as a key Islamic teaching. It helps build strong bonds not just within families or organizations, but across the nation.
“Strengthening relationships means reconnecting, especially with those we may have grown distant from,” he said. In a dynamic organization where different views are common, silaturahmi helps maintain unity and mutual respect.
Meanwhile, Secretary of Muhammadiyah Muhammad Sayuti explained that this year’s gathering was kept simple on purpose—not to cut costs, but to create a closer and more meaningful experience.
“We kept it simple not because of efficiency, but to create warmth and a stronger sense of togetherness,” he said.
He added that the event is a way to recharge for the busy work ahead. As Muhammadiyah role continues to grow both in Indonesia and globally, members should stay committed and work with integrity.
“We deal with many people and responsibilities. Muhammadiyah is now a global movement, and that’s only possible through consistent hard work,” said Sayuti.
This annual gathering wasn’t just a routine event. It was a reminder of the values that define Muhammadiyah. The spirit of togetherness and the messages shared during the event served to inspire and strengthen the organization’s path forward.
As Muhammadiyah continues to earn public trust, leaders and members are encouraged to maintain professionalism, teamwork, and dedication to the movement’s mission: to be a modern, forward-thinking Islamic organization that serves both faith and humanity.
